January seems to have quietly slipped by already, bringing with it my birthday, a lot of tinkering in the wood shop, and Ana's move to Austin. Which means, its time to go on a little road trip and talk about all things design (and bacon) related in person.

In the meantime, a few moments from the past month:
piles of rocks on every surface
brown butter lemon curd on a very grey day
endless walnut cutting boards (handcut, y'all)
and a prototype of a Top Secret Thing

The Beginning

Its all been a few years coming, this thing here. The accumulation of supplies, skills and (sometimes the hardest part) energy to materialize an idea thats been lying dormant for who knows how long. And so, as put by Ms. Ana (Penny+Sonja), a dust spell is a "a magic spell born out of a hazy day, an energetic imprint... the endless possibility you feel right before a big adventure."

While she and I were living in Los Angeles this past summer, lying on the floor to stay cool and making tibetan underwear flags (for fun and because clotheslines are always a nice addition to any living room), something began to happen. Maybe it was the heat, or the abundance of pizza, or the movie industry leaving both of us a bit disillusioned, but a collaborative design aesthetic was born!

And now that we live in Austin and New Orleans respectively (and sometimes Marfa, New York, Los Angeles and probably more...why can't we sit still??), this is where all of the tools and space and minds and hands come into play and we make something really great. Hopefully a line of apparel and furniture cuz thats mostly what we do, plus a bunch of other stuff.
